Thanks to the power of social media, email and cell phones, I've been getting daily updates, inspiration and golden nuggets from my friends and colleagues who are attending Breakthrough to Success with Jack Canfield.
It's amazing how the energy from BTS continues to live on in my heart and soul and in my daily life and how the transition and transformation toward living on purpose continues! Here's one of my favorite nuggets from one of Jack's Success Coaches, Sean Smith. He shares the wisdom found in the music of Jana Stanfield ... the official musician of BTS. She calls herself the Queen of Heavy Mental ... and for very good reason! I've adopted this song into my daily life as well as the work I do with both adults and teens: See Sean's BTS Golden Nugget here. Listen to What Would I Do Today If I Were Brave? by Jana Stanfield here. For more information about Jack Canfield's work click here. I've been connected to an academic schedule for many years, so September has always been like New Year's for me. Back to school, back to work and on to a new year full of possibilities!
This week is Breakthrough to Success week with Jack Canfield. Although I wasn't able to be at the event this year, I am certainly there in spirit! Thanks to Facebook, I am connected to the event and it's attendees and getting nuggets of great stuff I'll be sharing with you as well. In preparation for the fall, and in honor of my BTS experience, I've been tending to my environments. I first learned about the concept of our 9 environments at BTS from Jim Bunch. I've done quite a bit of work on my environments since returning from BTS and teach it to my clients as well, however, I find it helpful to revisit my environments on a regular basis. Particularly my relationships, physical home and office environments, which can very easily expire me if I don't keep them clear! This year brings big changes to my work and my business. I have a couple of tremendous opportunities that will level up my work and my life as it relates to my passion, my life purpose and the people I serve. I'm so excited and grateful and look forward to giving it my all. And in preparation, I've been working on clearing my environments so that I meet my new opportunities with focus and clarity. Over the weekend, I did a Tolerations and Irritations List in my physical environment which includes my home office and living space. I've been spending some time prioritizing the list, chunking it down, taking action and getting things done! I already feel more clear, more focused and more productive ... all of which are a set up for success! Thanks to Jim Bunch and Jack Canfield for teaching me about the importance creating environments that inspire rather than expire me! Read more about clearing clutter in your environments and download your own Irritations and Tolerations Worksheet at: http://www.jackcanfield.com/blog/item/996-clearing-clutter-increases-success.html I've heard it said that if you want to make a change, do it for thirty days and it's more likely to stick and become a new habit. My mentor, Jack Canfield is a strong advocate of the thirty day rule. On a subconscious level, this makes good sense. The subconscious mind loves repetition. Repetition helps to build new neuronal pathways in the brain. Depending on what the change is, it is even more powerful is to do it before you go to sleep to give your subconscious mind something positive to focus on while you sleep. So now all I have to do is decide what I'm going to do for the next thirty days. Perhaps no more white sugar? Perhaps start a yoga practice? Perhaps commit to visualization with my mind movies? Perhaps incorporate Jack's Rule of Five Action Plan every day for the next thirty days to get over the end of school year lull and get going on my summer goals. For an explanation of the Rule of Five view this short video clip at: http://youtu.be/pG7q05cjpY4 Perhaps committing some of my potential 30 day challenges to writing here will prompt the beginning of more than one change. However, in the interest of accountability, I'm going to commit to the Daily Rule of Five Action Plan in order to finally get some momentum behind that big goal I've been procrastinating on for the past few months. If you need some inspiration for your own thirty day commitment, check out this video: I am an inverse paranoid.
That is a phrase used by my mentor and teacher, Jack Canfield, who defines an inverse paranoid to be one who believes that the Universe is out to help and support them in creatng the life of their dreams and is conspiring to help them fulfill their purpose. I have a former friend who is paranoid. He always looks at the negative side of a situation. He always expects the worst. He even once said out loud, "The Universe is against me and it feels like it's out to get me." I tried to get him to reframe his thinking, but it was no use. But here's what I've learned. There is a part of the brain called the Reticular Activating System. It works along with the subconscious mind as a sort of information filter. The function of the RAS is to take what you're focused on, sort through the millions of bits of information you get through all of your senses, match it with what you're focused on and bring that into your consciousness. A simple example of how this works ... have you ever thought about getting a new car? Perhaps you had the make and model in your head. Or in your dreams? And the next thing you know, all you see is that particular make and model car on the road? That's your Reticular Activating System in action ... sorting through all the cars on the road to bring to your conscious attention the one you are thinking about. The Reticular Activating System is a great thing to know about if you're trying to access the law of attraction to create more of what you want in your life. The real key to gaining maximum benefit from being an inverse paranoid is to be clear what you want. First you must have clarity of purpose and create specific goals. The next step is to have a vision of what the goals look like and feel like completed. Then let the Universe do it's thing. Take action on a daily basis towards your goals, especially when the action is inspired by something beyond you. That's where the sychronicities happen, opportunities appear out of the blue, ideas crystallize in your dreams and you know what you need to do next. So back to my friend. He refuses to give into my concept of being an inverse paranoid. He called me crazy when in response to his "what if's" I one day responded with "What if it all goes right?' We don't see each other any more. Being around him was bringing me down. And I'm sure that my positivity made him equally uncomfortable. As hard as it was to end the relationship, it was necessary to keep the positive energy flowing in my life. Like attracts like. Every day the inverse paranoid in me gets stronger and stronger and I trust more and more. With that comes inspired action ... and that's where the magic lives! Life is so much more fun as an inverse paranoid. My favorite part is teaching the process to others to support them in becoming an inverse paranoid and helping them supercharge the law of attraction in their lives. Every once in awhile, a limiting belief pops up for me. When it does, with the help of my coach and a little hypnosis to reframe my subconscious mnd, I address it. There's always something to work on ... that's what being human is all about ... learning and growing. But in the big scheme of my life ... it's all going right! Why is it that some people seem to easily achieve whatever they want in life with all the riches (and enriching life experiences) that go with it -- while others struggle just to get by? Why do some people routinely attract the right combination of circumstances and opportunities they need to play a bigger game -- while others wait years to get ahead in their chosen field or activity? I've discovered the answer from a man whose work I’ve mentioned here before. In fact, he's been the leading success coach behind top achievers across America -- and trained literally millions more around the world in his unique principles of success. Business leaders... Bestselling authors… Noted philanthropists… Winning athletes… Top salespeople… All types of achievers have been personally trained by him. I have too … and this Summer, so can you! Finally, in the interest of full disclosure, I am an affilitate of the Canfield Training Group. After spending years in the medical field surrounded by pharmaceutical marketing, it takes alot for me to stand behind a brand, a product, a service or a philosophy without careful scrutiny. It is with great passion, pleasure and confidence that I have chosen to affiliate with The Canfield Training Group and help spread the Success Principles work It's spring in New England! It's time for the crocus, daffodils and tulips to bloom, the peepers to chirp and the robins to arrive! It's happening. At the Eaton Village store there is a pool on the ice-out date for Crystal Lake. The tourists that head to northern New England to ski are no longer coming. And while the tourists have packed away their gear, the locals gear up for uncrowded slopes, hiking for turns and the spring corn snow season.
Hmmmm ... perception certainly does not equal reality. The mountain I teach at closed last weekend. Sixty-four staff headed up to Stow Mountain Resort as our last hurrah for the season. It's an annual spring skiing trip that we all enjoy and it's a wonderful way to say goodbye to each other until next ski season begins. Note, spring skiing in New England usually means corn snow, shorts and t-shirts, sunglasses and lots of sunscreen. In contrast, I spent the last three days skiing in midwinter amazing conditiions. Packed power and firm at the top and like butter at the bottom ... just like a sunny day in January. Yesterday it snowed all day. A regular New England blizzard at the summit with low visiblity, high wind and cooooold! I made fresh tracks in about 6 inches of soft, silky, heavenly powder that was well worth braving the elements and reminded me to be grateful for the gondola to the summit. I almost had to quit early because of the assumptions I made when packing my gear bag. Spring skiing doesn't require the usual mid-winter gear, so I I left behind my midwinter layers. I never expected blizzard conditions in the middle of April ... and I was ill-prepared. Going with Jack Canfield's Ask, Ask, Ask Principle, I soon had what I needed to enjoy the day skiing the most amazing conditions I've ever experienced in April! I was skiing with my brother. He is a powder fanatic and loves skiing in the woods. Stowe is known for it's glades, but most of them are not marked on the trail map that is provided to the general public. My brother had a clear goal in mind. He wanted to explore the glades he had heard so much about, but had no idea quite how to get there. Going with another one of Jack's principles. Ask Someone Who's Already Done What You Want To Do, Jake struck up a conversation with a couple of locals on the lift. One was reluctant to share the locals' secrets and stashes and playfully protected his information. But Jake was determined and found someone else to ask. He even bartered chocolate for information. Finally he got the information he needed to get where he wanted to go. This weekend I relearned a couple of wonderful lesson for life and success. I'm happy to pass them on to you if you'll go with my skiing analogy. Our perception is not always reality. Just because things have always been a certain way doesn't mean that is the way they are today. And just because things are the way they are today, doesn't mean that is the way they will be tomorrow. Just because we think we know ... we don't. Just because there is a map, it doesn't mean that is all there is. Quite often, the road we are looking for is the road less travelled. It's not on the map. Noone ever told us it even existed, yet inside there is a yearning to discover it. And to find it, we will have to ask for directions, for support, for guidance. Our perception can be our own limitation. We are best served to look beyond it. To go with that inner yearning. To ask for help. To get the support of those who have gone before us. To learn from others. To face fears and take the risks that will no doubt show up on our path. My brother Jake stopped by this morning; still smiling as he speaks of the hidden chutes and stashes and steeps he found thanks to the locals he had the courage to ask. I am home now ... ready to get back to work; my soul rejuvenated and my perception shifted thanks to all those who helped me gear up for a few amazing days in the mountains! My mentor, Jack Canfield, gives high regard to being authentic and transparent. Most likely related to old limiting beliefs and subconscious programming as a child, being consistently authentic and transparent brings up some fear for me.
These days, whenever fear arises, I know that fear is most likely my subconscious mind trying to protect me and keep me safe. Fear screams loud through that subconscious voice and sometimes even creates a physiological response in my body. On the other hand, quiet reflection allows me to hear what's underneath the loud noise of my subconscious. It is then I can hear the whisper of my heart. Softly, gently, quietly ... it says "yes" or "do it" or it simply gives me a gentle nudge in my gut that I now trust as my intuition. I can either give in to the fear and go dark ... or take a risk, follow my intuition and choose light and love. I'm feeling that nudge to share something with you. It's very personal to me and may very well speak to you. Or maybe not. But I'll go with my gut anyway. Below is the link for my first Mind Movie. I created it awhile back after being introduced to Jack Canfield's Success Principles. I followed his suggestion that visualization is a very powerful tool to help us harness the power of our subconscious mind, breakthrough limiting beliefs and achieve our goals and dreams. This morning, as I watched my movie as I always do, I realized that I've made significan progress towards the goals I had in mind when I made myMind Movie. many of the goals Very cool! Today is a snow day in NH. I've decided to stay home and spend some time updating my goals and creating a couple of new Mind Movies to include in my Daily Disciplines for Effortless Success that Jack recommends. I suggest you explore how Mind Movies can inspire you to action and create the results you desire. The furry creatures you'll see in my Mind Movie are curled up around me as I type. I just made a fresh cup of coffee. Later this afternoon, I will be packing my gear and heading on a ski trip with the little guy you'll see by the ocean in my Mind Movie. I am now living my purpose, in a peaceful and productive environment, surrounded by love and support, building a successful business and creating financial abundance. I'm still waiting for my life partner to arrive and am quite sue he's on his way. I love how Mind Movies have helped me ... and I love how easy, fun and inspiring they are to create!
